HSA / FSA Eligible

Use your pre-tax health dollars on OPTML.

Your OPTML protocol is medical care — physician consultations, prescriptions, and ongoing clinical oversight. That makes it eligible for reimbursement through your Health Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account, the same as a doctor's visit.

Effective savings when you pay with pre-tax HSA / FSA dollars
Based on combined federal + state tax brackets. Your actual savings depend on your tax rate.

How it works

Two paths, depending on how your plan administrator handles telehealth and compounded medications.

1

Use your HSA / FSA card at checkout

Most HSA and FSA debit cards work directly at OPTML checkout for consultations and labs. No paperwork. Charge it like any other card.

2

Or pay normally and reimburse later

Pay with any card, then submit your OPTML receipt to your plan administrator for reimbursement. We can provide an itemized receipt on request.

3

Letter of Medical Necessity (if needed)

For some plans, certain protocols may require a Letter of Medical Necessity from your prescribing clinician. Email info@optml.com and we'll coordinate one.

What's eligible

Eligibility ultimately depends on your plan administrator, but here's how OPTML's services generally treat under IRS guidance.

Frequently asked

Is OPTML really HSA / FSA-eligible?

Yes. OPTML protocols are delivered through licensed clinicians within the Telegra MD network. Telehealth consultations, prescriptions, and lab testing ordered by a clinician are qualified medical expenses under IRS Publication 502.

Plans vary in how they treat compounded medications and ongoing-care subscriptions. If your administrator pushes back, request a Letter of Medical Necessity from us and resubmit.

What's the actual savings?

HSA and FSA contributions are pre-tax. If your combined federal + state income tax rate is 30%, every dollar you spend through HSA/FSA costs you only $0.70 in take-home pay — a 30% effective discount.

Most users save 22–40% depending on their bracket. For a $349 / month protocol, that's typically $76 to $140 / month back in your pocket.

What documentation do I need?

For most plans, your monthly OPTML receipt is sufficient. We can provide an itemized version that breaks out consultation fees, prescription costs, and care-coordination fees if your administrator requests it.

For compounded medications, some plans require a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) from your prescribing clinician. Email info@optml.com and we'll coordinate one with your provider.

My HSA card was declined. What now?

This is common with some administrators — they auto-decline anything coded as compounded pharmacy. Pay with any standard card and submit the receipt for reimbursement manually. The eligibility is the same; the workflow is just two-step.

Can I use my HSA for the Apex Panel?

Yes. The Apex Panel is a diagnostic lab test ordered by a licensed clinician, which is a qualified medical expense. Use your HSA / FSA card at checkout or pay and reimburse.

Does insurance cover OPTML?

No. OPTML is cash-pay and does not bill insurance. This is intentional — it keeps care direct, pricing predictable, and your records out of the insurance system. HSA / FSA dollars are the closest analog to using insurance benefits.

I don't have an HSA / FSA. Can I still get one?

HSAs are available to anyone enrolled in a high-deductible health plan (HDHP). FSAs are typically offered through an employer. Contribution limits in 2026 are $4,300 for individual HSAs and $3,300 for FSAs. Check with your HR or insurance provider during open enrollment.
